WASHINGTON, DC, March 28, 2013 (Press-News.org) Peter Mayer, producer and co-creator of the building industry's most prestigious awards programs, has been recognized with the Chairman's Award, presented to an individual who has shown long term dedication and commitment to the National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) and its Institute of Residential Marketing (IRM). A council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), NSMC promotes professionalism in new home sales and marketing throughout the United States.
The Chairman's Award is bestowed solely at the discretion of NSMC and IRM, and is presented as part of The Nationals ceremonies. Ceremonies for 2012 included more than 1,000 homebuilding professionals gathered to celebrate winners in diverse categories for new home development, project sales and marketing and individual achievement. http://youtu.be/aNeUIDXCdAg
"Peter Mayer has served our industry for more than 40 years; he is really our own Dick Clark," said Joe McGaw, NSMC Executive Director. "He saw the need for recognition within our industry, he filled that need with imagination and dedication, and the awards program model he created continues to be emulated by builder associations across the country. His work is a gift to our industry."
The acknowledgment caps a full and rewarding career, according to Mayer. "The opportunities I've had to work with truly outstanding professionals have been remarkable, diverse, inspirational and much more," said Mayer. "Getting an award for what has consistently been so personally gratifying is just amazing, and I am sincerely appreciative of the Chairman's honor."
Mayer entered the homebuilding arena in the publishing field, for Homebuyer's Guide, one of the nation's leading housing guides. In 1978, he founded Peter M. Mayer Productions, with the express intention of inspiring professional achievements through professional recognition programs.
As judging chairman and show producer for home building's most prestigious recognition programs, Mayer can count some 300 competitions and celebrations to his credit, including The Nationals, Gold Nugget Awards, MAME and SoCal Awards. In addition to the Chairman's Award, Mayer has earned the Max Tipton Award for Marketing Excellence and the Rodney Radom Award for significant contributions to the California building industry and PCBC/Premier Building Show.
Industry peers were eager to applaud Mayer's latest accolade. "Through his outstanding coordination and presentation of programs like The Nationals and Gold Nuggets, Pete advanced the state of the housing industry," said Aram Bassenian, AIA, founder and chairman of internationally renowned Bassenian/Lagoni Architects of Newport Beach, California. "He's created the forum for sharing our industry's best ideas on design, sales and marketing, and we are all better for these efforts."
Said Bob Schultz, an NSMC Legend Honoree, "The industry has been blessed to have his expertise, energy, focus and dedication to continued excellence. In a world today riddled with pretenders seeking their 15 minutes of fame, Pete Mayer is the epitome of consistency, diplomacy, class and integrity. A great role model for all of us!"
Larry Webb, President of The New Home Company and NSMC Legend Honoree, added, "Pete Mayer's vision and commitment have inspired our entire industry, and on a personal note--I love the guy!"
