Saint Anthony's Health Center partners with CSI in expanded Sleep Center

2013-04-04
ST. LOUIS, MO, April 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) Clayton Sleep Institute (CSI), a leading independent organization dedicated to all aspects of sleep medicine and healthy sleep, is partnering with Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Ill., in their newly expanded Sleep Center. A combined staff of CSI and Saint Anthony's sleep experts will work with patients, offering a comprehensive sleep practice using state-of-the-art science and technology.

"We are excited about bringing the physicians and sleep experts from Clayton Sleep Institute to Alton," said Sister M. Mikela, Vice President of Patient Care Services for Saint Anthony's. "Individuals who are sleep deprived now have an opportunity to improve their sleep and change their quality of life."

"We are thrilled to share our expertise with Saint Anthony's and to work with them to provide high quality sleep medicine to Alton and the surrounding communities," said Dr. Joseph Ojile, founder and CEO of Clayton Sleep Institute. "Working together we have a tremendous opportunity to expand the community's awareness of healthy sleep and the issues that can result from or precede poor quality sleep. The expanded Saint Anthony's Sleep Center will provide more convenient access to increased excellence in sleep care, beginning with a proper sleep study."

Sleep studies consist of an overnight stay in which the patient is monitored by a sleep technologist. The study examines 20 separate functions to help identify the reason for or cause of a patient's poor quality sleep or sleep disorder. A specially trained physician will then evaluate the results of the test to determine if a sleeping disorder exists and then which method(s) of treatment would best fit the individual patient.

"We know so much more now about how sleep affects our overall health and especially its connection to conditions like hypertension, diabetes and cardiac problems," said Sister Mikela.

The Saint Anthony's Sleep Center is located in the Saint Clare's Professional Building at 815 East Fifth Street in Alton. The Center offers day, evening and weekend sleep studies in a facility equipped with new technology and specially designed for patient comfort.
