SAN DIEGO, CA, April 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) Exodus Studios, an events production company, announced today that the tenth annual "Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue!," a music and art walk extending over 2 miles on Adams Avenue is happening on June 1 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A free and family-friendly event, Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue! will showcase numerous visual and performance artists, stretching from Oregon street in Normal Heights to Vista street in Kensington. More than 100 businesses will change into art galleries and/or performance arenas for the day.
The event will kickoff at 2pm with introductions from Mayor Bob Filner, Council President Todd Gloria and other surprise guests, followed by meet & greets with them.
Some of the music acts you'll see are Hills Like Elephants, Okapi Sun, Black Sands, We Are Sirens, Josh Damigo, New Kinetics, Neon Cough, Scott Mathiasen, True Stories, Mad Traffic, Tolan Shaw, Pan Am, The Peripherals, Marie Haddad, Patric Petrie, amongst many more.
According to Rosen, Art Around Adams premiered in 2004 and has grown to generate over 20,000 attendees each year.
"Art has a long and strong history of bringing people together in San Diego County," said Supervisor Ron Roberts. "The Adams Avenue Community has the good fortune of being home to an established, interesting and thriving collection of artists and businesses. Art Around Adams helps display that to both locals and visitors alike."
"Art Around Adams is a great event, and I look forward to it every year," Council President Gloria said. "The Adams Avenue community is filled with music, art, and culture, and Art Around Adams brings all of that to the street for every San Diegan to enjoy."
A complimentary trolley featuring live stand-up comedy will shuttle guests along Adams Avenue. Thousands of dollars' worth of prizes will be given away. The prizes range from gift cards to vintage wine, all graciously donated from businesses in the Normal Heights/Kensington Communities.
