LAKE GENEVA, WI, April 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) GreenLeaf Media Group has purchased 11 RECs (11,000 kWh). This purchase will cover the energy used to run eight websites, designed and supported internally, over a 12 month period.
An average website uses approximately 108 kWh to run per month, which comes out to 10,368 kWh per year. This purchase of the environmental attributes for 11 megawatt hours of renewable energy generation equates to 12,307 pounds of CO2 NOT being produced.
12,307 pounds of CO2 or 11 RECs is equivalent to:
• the emissions from 626 gallons of gasoline consumed
• the emissions from 233 propane cylinders used for home barbeques
• the greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 2.1 tons of waste instead of sending it to the landfill
The purchase of RECs is just one of the many green initiatives GLMG follows to support their goals for sustainable operations.
