SAN DIEGO, CA, April 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) Philanthropist and Embrace founder Sean Sheppard (www.TheGoodSheppard.TV) has been selected by the SDSU Alumni association to receive the SDSU Alumni Diversity Award due to his continued commitment to diversity and social justice. Sheppard was chosen for this award as a result of his unique service model of utilizing diverse groups of college student volunteers to serve less fortunate members of civilian and veteran communities, his leadership and the measurable change he has had in San Diego and at San Diego State University.
"Sean Sheppard has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to diversity and social justice though his work with our students and in the community," said Dr. Aaron Bruce, Chief Diversity Officer of San Diego State University. "We are proud he is a member of the Aztec family and sincerely appreciate his dedication to making San Diego a better place for everyone."
The SDSU Alumni Diversity Award Celebration takes place annually and is a time for the San Diego State University faculty, staff, student body and the university President to come together to recognize and celebrate those who have contributed to the community's diversity, inclusion and social justice.
The award celebration will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Up to five different awards will be given, and the recipients will be recognized on the SDSU website and media venues. Sheppard will receive the Alumni Award.
Community leader, advocate and philanthropist are only a few words that begin to describe Embrace founder Sean Sheppard. Embrace's efforts to serve less fortunate civilian and veteran communities throughout San Diego County began in 2003 when Embrace became incorporated in the state of California.
