Bold Book Draws the Line Between Christians and The World

Author examines commonly held beliefs like "hard work is the key to success" and "experience is the best teacher" and determines these are precisely the kinds of cliches that contradict the Bible and don't apply to Christians.

2013-04-10
CEDAR HILL, TX, April 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) After experiencing nearly a decade of success in the fiction genre, bestselling author Michelle Stimpson takes a more direct stab at the hearts and minds of Christian readers through her non-fiction book, Uncommon Sense: 30 Truths to Radically Renew Your Mind in Christ.

According to the author, commonly held beliefs like "hard work is the key to success" and "experience is the best teacher" are precisely the kinds of cliches that contradict the Bible and don't apply to Christians.

"Believers have to understand, the things that used to work for us in the world's system won't work for us under the lordship of Christ," Stimpson states with conviction.

The thirty truths outlined in the book address worldly ideas about success, control, independence, and several other ideals that may prove shocking to believers who ignorantly shadow worldly standards, thereby sabotaging the renewal of their own minds. For each cliche, the author explains why the world must continue to operate by the belief (common sense) and why Christians cannot expect to bring God glory by adhering to the world-given rule. Following, the Uncommon Sense explains the higher path through scripture and clearly illustrated examples.

The final chapter overturns ten "verses" that aren't even in the Bible. If you have ever quoted, "The race is not given to the swift or the strong, but to the one who endures to the end," then you may be surprised to know this is not a verse in the Bible. Rather, it is a man-made combination of Ecclesiastes 9:11 and Matthew 10:22.

Given this information, some will have to ask the question: what else do I believe that's not actually in the Bible?

Perhaps readers will draw even more confirmation about the truths by taking a look at the author's life. "I've experienced major success in my professional life. But the real beauty is that following my dream hasn't cost me my family, my health, or my integrity. I'm celebrating twenty years of marriage with my husband, I've got strong relationships with two wonderful teenage kids, and I even have the time to commit to volunteering at my church. This kind of life didn't happen because I went to college or worked hard. It happened to glorify Christ, by Matthew 16:25."

Highly recommended for new believers or seasoned believers seeking to maximize their walk in Christ.

Uncommon Sense: 30 Truths to Radically Renew Your Mind in Christ is available through all major ebook retailers and in paperback. Visit the author online at http://www.MichelleStimpson.com
