Social Security Disability

To receive Social Security Disability benefits, you must be unable to perform any kind of gainful employment within your geographic region because of your disability. You also must be unable to work for at least one year or to be able to prove that your disability is going to last at least one year. While your disability can arise from any source, you must have a work history to obtain compensation.

Workers' Compensation

If you were injured in a workplace accident, you do not have to be out of work nor do you have to be totally disabled to collect workers' compensation benefits. Benefits start from the very first day of the injury.
