SOUTH ELGIN, IL, April 17, 2013 (Press-News.org) Dr. Brar, dentist in South Elgin, is using CEREC 3D technology to provide natural-looking restorations in a single office visit. CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This means Dr. Brar can quickly and economically restore damaged teeth using a durable ceramic that matches the natural color of teeth.

"I am glad we are able to offer this technology to our patients. We value our patient's time and being able to do restorations in a single office visit aligns with that value. First, Dr. Bar will prepare the tooth that needs the restoration by painting a thin layer of reflective powder directly on the tooth's surface. A picture is then taken of the tooth using a special camera. Using computer technology, the restoration is designed from the optical impression. Patient can watch this process on a full-color computer monitor. Two high-speed diamond burs mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. The newly created restoration is then bonded to the teeth using adhesive dentistry.
