SOUTH ELGIN, IL, April 17, 2013 (Press-News.org) Dr. Brar, dentist in South Elgin, is using CEREC 3D technology to provide natural-looking restorations in a single office visit. CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This means Dr. Brar can quickly and economically restore damaged teeth using a durable ceramic that matches the natural color of teeth.

First, Dr. Bar will prepare the tooth that needs the restoration by painting a thin layer of reflective powder directly on the tooth's surface. A picture is then taken of the tooth using a special camera. Using computer technology, the restoration is designed from the optical impression. Patient can watch this process on a full-color computer monitor. Two high-speed diamond burs mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. The newly created restoration is then bonded to the teeth using adhesive dentistry.
