RICHMOND, VA, April 17, 2013 (Press-News.org) C&F Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CFFI), the one-bank holding company for C&F Bank announced today that Gail Letts has been named C&F Bank's new Richmond Regional President, putting her at the helm of the Bank's commercial and small business operations. Her responsibilities in this role are to create a high-performing team in order to grow the Bank's commercial and small business portfolio and to support the performance of the Bank's retail branches.
Letts makes the transition to C&F Bank after 30 years with SunTrust Bank, where she most recently held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Central Virginia Region. Her leadership and strategic planning experience will enable her to increase client acquisition, customer satisfaction, and community leadership for C&F Bank.
"The powerful history, reputation, and mission of C&F Bank is what initially caught my eye when I began considering new opportunities but it was really the C&F brand I personally experienced as a whole that ended up sealing the deal," says Letts, who starts at the Bank on Monday, April 15th. "The C&F brand is built upon the notion of 'Focused on You'; for me, that means true servant leadership to the community and having a long-standing commitment to the markets we serve. Richmond is my home, it's where I want to lead, and this is the kind of company of which I want to be a part."
Letts represents an extensive and highly successful background in the financial services industry, as well receiving awards and honors, including being named to Style Weekly's "2012 Power List" and "Top 50 Most Powerful & Influential Women in Richmond 2011." She has served on numerous boards and committees in Richmond, including United Way of Greater Richmond, VCU School of Business Foundation, VSU University School of Business, Richmond's Future, and Venture Richmond.
"My objective is to lead a team that not only gives great community bank service but goes the extra mile: we will provide leadership and stewardship to the citizens and businesses of the Richmond Metropolitan Area in order to make this a better place to live and work," says Letts.
C&F Bank currently offers eighteen full-service retail bank branches throughout eastern Virginia, including seven in the Richmond Metropolitan area. Combined with its subsidiaries, C&F Mortgage Corporation and C&F Finance Company, the bank employs over 200 teammates in this market.
C&F Bank was founded in 1927 in West Point, Virginia and has always been known for its strong internal leadership structure, resulting in the bank's long-term success and stability. With only three Presidents in the bank's 86-year history, C&F has cultivated a business model that has consistently led to record earnings, expansion, and honors. This includes being named one of Forbes.com's "top banks of the decade" in 2012.
"We are very pleased to welcome Gail as a part of the C&F Bank team; her vision of improving our communities through personal involvement is well aligned with our bank's history. She also believes in our philosophy of accommodating customers for the purpose of helping them achieve their financial goals. Our bank is here to serve three primary constituencies - our customers and their communities, our teammates, and our stockholders," says Larry Dillon, C&F Bank President and Chief Executive Officer. "While it is not our goal to be the largest bank in the Richmond market we are interested in expanding our presence, especially in the commercial lending area."
Dillon concluded, "We want to be known as one of the best banks in the markets we serve, an objective that we are certain Gail can help us achieve. She brings a wealth of knowledge that will benefit so many areas of our company and I am extremely confident that Gail's knowledge of the Richmond market will greatly enhance our presence and ability to serve that market."
