HOUSTON, TX, April 19, 2013 (Press-News.org) Kings guard Marcus Thornton and the rest of his Sacramento teammates may not know where home is next season, at least not yet, but that isn't stopping the "Bayou Bomber" from making some summer plans. Just out, Thornton and agent Tony Dutt have confirmed that the NBA's most efficient scorer has teamed up with HSBCAMPS, America's fastest growing youth basketball initiative, to train, mentor, and inspire an up and coming generation of young ball players this summer in Houston. Joining the likes of Golden State's Carl Landry and league veteran Felipe Lopez, Thornton becomes HSBCAMPS latest NBA staff addition, and perhaps the organizations biggest to date.
A solid contributor in Sacramento, Thornton has quickly risen the NBA ranks, considered one of the games most productive offensive threats, hence his nickname "lil buckets". Such a tag is fitting of the Louisiana native, as Lebron James noted, after Thornton torched "the King" in Miami for 36 back in February. Embodying all that HSB stands for Hard Work, Sacrifice, and Believe that anything is possible, Thornton is a shining example of what makes the league so great, always eager for any opportunity to give back.
"Marcus represents everything that our program is about," shared HSBCAMPS Director Carson Sofro. "He has come from very humble beginnings and has had to overcome tremendous odds to achieve the great success he enjoys today. I know his story will be an inspiration to all of our athletes and we are truly blessed to have him."
Joining former Houston Rockets Forward Mike Harris and the rest of the HSBCAMPS staff, Thornton will be in attendance when HSB dribbles into Legends Sports Complex just north of Houston, Texas, June 10-12, 2013. For more information or to register for this location, contact info@hsbcamps.com or visit http://www.hsbcamps.com. Availability is very limited.
HSBCAMPS is America's fastest growing youth basketball initiative and leader in bringing kids of all ages, incomes, and abilities face-to-face with the pros.
