BILBAO, SPAIN, October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum will soon be welcoming a stunning exhibition showcasing the work of Georges Rouault, with more than 100 pieces available to view.
Running from November 15th 2010 to February 13th 2011, the display will show hotel Bilbao guests a huge variety of his output over the years, which should give people some idea how his style altered.
According to the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, it is noticeable how the Frenchman went from using expressive scribbles and a lot of the colour blue in his drawings, to employing thicker and warmer quantities of paint in his later years.
"By offering such a wide selection of works organised by exhibition commissar Angela Lampe, curator of the Centre Georges Pompidou, the museum will give visitors the opportunity to delve deeper into the work of the artist and follow his evolution," explained the venue.
The collection has been dubbed The Sacred and the Profane, with famous pieces such as Parade and Veronique sharing wall space with unfinished works from Rouault's studio.
A former glass painter, the artist is an important figure in the history of Expressionism and Fauvism.
Opening hours at the arts space are from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 20:00 local time. Admission costs EUR6 (GBP5.25).
