In an interview with Construction Digital, Christine Robertson, CFO and Corporate Secretary of Galesburg Builders Supply Co., reveals what sets the company apart from its competition.

"We basically built the community or helped to build the community," she says. Based in Galesburg, Illinois, the company has become part of the fabric of the local community due to its longevity and the pivotal role it has played in the development of the area over the last 90 years. Though acquired by Denton Enterprises in 1996, the company is still focused on enhancing the local community through the supply of asphalt and cement mix for infrastructure and other construction projects.

Over the years, the company has effectively streamlined its operations to improve efficiency and the overall bottom line. Galesburg Builders has invested in maintenance shops to ensure that downtime on a projects is kept to a minimum as a result of faulty machinery. "We feel it is important to keep our equipment in working order so that we can be as efficient as possible," says Robertson. "We also realize that newer technologies can add to efficiencies in production, both in the field and in the office."
