Spec-Rite Designs Announces $250,000 Expansion

St. Louis-based company plans to double the current plant size and create new jobs

ST. LOUIS, MO, May 03, 2013

Spec-Rite Designs, a global designer, fabricator and distributor of phenolic furnishings, announced plans for the $250,000 expansion of its St. Louis offices and the creation of an estimated five new job positions. Preliminary plans call for construction to commence in June with completion expected during the first quarter of 2014.

Preliminary construction plans for the new expansion are expected to double the square footage of Spec-Rite's current office, operations and manufacturing facilities. This includes the addition of a new 10,000-square-foot warehouse and a 5,000-square-foot office expansion that will house administrative and operations space.

"We are extremely excited for the expansion of our operations and facilities," said Steve Kistner, General Manager of Spec-Rite Designs. "Our facility expansion is necessary in order to respond to the incredible growth in the phenolic market and to meet customer demands for our customized solid phenolic products like lockers, furniture, cabinets, partitions, and wall lining."

The estimated 15,000-square-foot expansion will bring Spec-Rite Designs' office and manufacturing facilities' total square footage to more than 30,000 square feet. Additionally, in order to accommodate the new expansion, Spec-Rite Designs is expected to create up to five new full-time positions. Included in the expansion plans are the creation of a state-of-the-art board room, storage for materials and products, and a product showcase and design center.

Funding for the quarter million dollar expansion will be financed by Spec-Rite Designs' parent company, MHS Legacy Group, a diversified national holding company, with subsidiaries across a broad spectrum of commercial and industrial industries, including: commercial and industrial roofing & sheet metal; industrial scaffolding; metal fabrication; mechanical insulation contracting; industrial insulation; and exterior wall cladding.

"The market demand for custom fabricated phenolic products has seen incredible growth over the last few years," said Walter Hatfield, CEO of MHS Legacy Group. "We consider this expansion phase one of many more to come as Spec-Rite Designs continues to meet the increasing demand from the market."
