LONDON, ENGLAND, October 30, 2010 (Press-News.org) London hotel bookings may be set to rise as travellers can now see a new exhibition at the British Museum that showcases some of the finest artists of recent times - it is entitled Picasso to Julie Mehretu.
The display features a variety of pieces from the arts space's archives, with the work available to view until April 25th 2011.
As well as the two titular artists - both of whom need no introduction thanks to the power of their work - there are also drawings by Otto Dix, Anselm Kiefer, Magritte and Gerhard Richter.
The quantity and quality of world-famous artwork on show in the collection makes Picasso to Julie Mehretu a real treat for fans of contemporary art staying at accommodation such as Tophams Belgravia Hotel London.
"Collected over the past 35 years, this exhibition showcases many of the great artists of the 20th century, starting with Picasso's study for his masterpiece Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, the painting that shook the art world in 1907," explained a representative from the British Museum.
Travellers on a budget will be delighted to hear that the museum does not cost anything to enter, with the building opening from 10:00 to 17:30 GMT every day.
There are also a variety of free talks taking place during the show's run, such as an introduction to the work on display on January 18th.
For more information on this event visit the British Museum website or contact the venue on 020 7323 8299.
