BOISE, ID, May 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) Just a month removed from his NBA call-up and Sixers guard, Justin Holiday, is breaking headlines yet again. The 6'6 rookie announced today he has teamed with HSBCAMPS, America's fastest growing youth basketball initiative, to train, mentor, and inspire an up and coming generation of young ball players this summer in Boise. Returning to Idaho for the first time since the Philadelphia 76ers acquired the guard back in April, Holiday jumped at the opportunity to give back to the community and the young fans who supported him throughout his 2012-2013 D-League season.
Undrafted out of college, the 24-year-old spent much of his early professional career pursuing an NBA roster spot amidst heavy scrutiny from multiple scouts and GM's throughout the league. Released by both Cleveland and Portland during last years pre-season, many considered Holiday a long-shot to join brother Jrue in the NBA ranks. However, six months and several big performances later, Justin was Philadelphia bound, trekking from Boise to The City of Brotherly Love as the newest member of the 76ers.
"Justin is living proof that through Hard Work, a lil Sacrifice, and Believing in yourself, anything is possible," shared HSBCAMPS Director Carson Sofro. "His energy, drive, and passion for helping others, especially young people, is something we truly wanted to share with all of our athletes in Boise."
When asked Holiday added, "I am honored to be able to give back and hopefully inspire a group of hard working and motivated young players. I look forward to time on the court, developing and pushing the kids in every way I can. Should be a fun week with HSBCAMPS and again just honored to be able to do this."
Joining Sofro and the rest of the HSBCAMPS staff, Holiday will be in attendance when HSB dribbles into Boise's Capital High School June 24-29, 2013. For more information or to register for this location, contact info@hsbcamps.com or visit http://www.hsbcamps.com. Remaining availability is extremely limited!
HSBCAMPS is America's fastest growing youth basketball initiative and leader in bringing kids of all ages, incomes, and abilities face-to-face with the pros.
