Atlanta Painters, The Painting Company, Point Out That Middle-of-the-Road House Paints Are Best

A fresh coat of paint is a great way to breathe new life into your home. The Atlanta painting professionals at The Painting Company explain that the best paint isn't necessarily the most expensive.

2013-05-14
NORCROSS, GA, May 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) If your house is starting to feel worn or drab, a fresh coat of paint can make a world of difference. Finding a high-quality, yet affordable paint can be a chore, however. People often assume that you get what you pay for across the board. The Atlanta painters at The Painting Company point out that when it comes to good paint, the expensive brands don't actually outperform more reasonably priced options.

Consumer Reports recently evaluated 65 different paints and concluded that middle-of-the-road paint options performed the best. While none of the top picks were under $20, the highest rated paints were in the $25 to $35 a gallon price range. The Painting Company's Atlanta painting professionals state that some of the highest scores went to a new brand called Clark and Kensington, sold at Ace Hardware stores for around $33 a gallon.

Other top performers in the Consumer Reports tests included Behr Premium Plus Ultra Enamel, sold for just more than $30 a gallon at The Home Depot. The Glidden Premium, available for around $25 a gallon, and Valspar Signature paints, sold for $33 a gallon, were also highly rated. Atlanta painters at The Painting Company explained that higher cost options, such as Benjamin Moore, available for as much as $68 a gallon, did well in the Consumer Reports test, but were not top-rated.

"Middle-of-the-road paints are a wise choice because after a certain price level, additional benefits are limited," says Chris Camp, Owner of The Painting Company. "The cheapest options tend to be less durable and perform inconsistently. Mid-level brands offer more cost-effective options, such as self-priming paints. These eliminate the need for a primer coat, saving you time and money."

The Atlanta painting experts at The Painting Company use only high-quality materials by Sherwin Williams or a paint of your choice. Their skilled Atlanta painters provide free estimates, guaranteeing that the final bill will never exceed their initial quote. They stand behind their outstanding work with a standard three- or optional five-year warranty.

Not all cytokine-producing cells start out the same way

2013-05-13
PHILADELPHIA – Cytokines are molecules produced by immune cells that induce the migration of other cells to sites of infection or injury, promote the production of anti-microbial agents, and signal the production of inflammatory mediators. These events are important for fighting infections. However, sometimes this process goes unchecked, resulting in unwanted inflammation that can damage tissues and organs. Interleukin 17, or IL17, is a well-studied cytokine that regulates immune function at mucosal surfaces in the body but is dysregulated in many diseases, such as multiple ...
