WASHINGTON, DC, May 22, 2013
On May 20, 2012, Porphyrogene Skincare and actress Taylor Roberts present Leading Ladies Perfume Series: Katniss Parfum No. 1, Daenerys Parfum No. 2, Daisy Buchanan Parfum No. 3, and Lady Mary Parfum No. 4.The fragrance quartet was blended and crafted by actress Taylor Roberts, whose start up company, Porphyrogene, has been growing steadily since its incarnation in Spring 2012. Roberts, known for her work on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Mona Lisa Smile, and ad campaigns for Esprit and La Senza Swimwear, has found a niche in the growing handmade beauty market.
"These new perfumes marry my love of strong heroines in fiction and television with my passion for luxury perfumes and beauty products. As an actress, something I like to think about when building a character is, what perfume would she wear? I took that a step further with these beautiful fragrance blends. Now the public can share in my imagination." - Taylor Roberts
With Katniss Parfum No. 1 Roberts creates a blend to capture the combustible union of fiery sugared citrus and earthy, natural wildflower. The head notes begin with bright lemon, bergamot, and tangerine, fusing with dark and juicy black currant and opening the way for the sugary pink grapefruit heart. Wildflowers and earthy edibles fill out the heart notes: orange blossom, sugared tiger lilies, freesia and, of course, primrose. At her fiery base she is sandalwood, vanilla, wild patchouli and raw turbinado sugar.
Daenerys Eau de Parfum No. 2 is the second in Porphyrogene's Leading Ladies Perfume Series. Inspired by this ghostly pale beauty that was tossed from her homeland and married to a Dothraki king, Roberts imagined Daenerys marching through the red desert, "What spices and oils and exotic flowers might pepper the air and anoint the Khaleesi?" Feminine at first glance, Daenerys No. 2 opens with sweet mimosa, exotic mandarin, lovely bergamot and traces of orange blossom. Heart notes bloom around daring and dramatic amber, warm honey mingles with absolutes of rose and patchouli, while jasmine, ylang ylang, and carnation gather to add sweetness. The base notes fill out the amber heart with exotic, fiery resins, labdanum and benzoin, while smoky sandalwood, vanilla, and tonka bean create a mysterious depth that echoes Kahleesi's steely firepower.
Dancing carelessly in the golden summer breeze, Daisy Buchanan Parfum No. 3 opens with a heart full of daisy and wildflowers. The top notes sway along, sweet strawberry, powdery green violet leaf, and sparkling grapefruit, with hints of black currant and Bulgarian rose. Heart notes beat wildly around the daisy with feminine violets, wild hawthorn, gardenia, and jasmine. Like Daisy Buchanan herself, this perfume haunts you with the dry down, with white musk, sensual amber, light cocoa and mysterious opoponax resin that seems to appear and disappear throughout the fragrance.
Lady Mary Parfum No. 4 opens with head notes of coriander, crisp yuzu, and Earl Grey bergamot. At its heart are bouquets of English violets surrounded by powdery violet leaf, English lavender, and a spray of regal ballerina freesia. Lady Mary Parfum No. 4 finds its quiet strength in the dry down. Ever feminine, its base consists of white musk, patchouli, fresh cedar and white amber. Roberts says fans of white floral fragrances and vintage soaps will adore this fragrance, which marries a frolicking fresh blooming meadow with satin and pearl-dripped opulence.
