NEW YORK, NY, May 30, 2013 (Press-News.org) Akimbo Connect, an innovative professional and digital portfolio network, plans to give $2,000 to an aspiring recent graduate to help launch their career as part of an initiative called The Akimbo Life Advance.
Beginning on May 15 and running through June 20, recent graduates are able to enter into the contest by signing up for Akimbo Connect at http://akimboconnect.com/contest. All participating members are asked to build their profile to reflect their passions and experiences, and to provide their plans for the $2000 advance. The money will be awarded to one graduate with the most relevant, creative, and viable plan.
"The Akimbo Life Advance is exactly what Akimbo Connect stands for," said Akimbo co-founder and CEO Adrienne Rochetti. "We want to remind the young and aspiring that 'the dream' is still alive, and we want to give them the courage and resources to take it to the next level."
The Akimbo Life Advance aims to improve the transition from college to the next step - be that a job, their own venture, or graduate school. The winner will be announced on June 25 on http://akimboconnect.com/contest/winner.

New York City start-up Akimbo, LLC launched as a professional development network with an engaging social aspect in 2012. In addition to building a rich-media profile that features photos, videos, and other documents, members can browse and post on a bulletin board and connect with other members with whom they feel a sense of synergy.
"The launch of AkimboConnect.com is a movement to a better workplace," said Rochetti. "By bringing to life a person's resume and credentials online, employers are able to find unique employees that best fit open positions and the company environment as a whole."
Akimbo Connect is growing its offline presence in NYC by hosting social networking meetups and by personally engaging with their members to help them in times of transition. The start-up also plans to roll out many more innovative professional development tools in the future.
