The Chef's Academy Hosts National ProStart Summer Institute

Local Culinary Institute Hosts Week-Long Program For Culinary Educators From Across The Country

RALEIGH, NC, June 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Chef's Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced it will host nearly ProStart instructors from across the country for the national ProStart Summer Institute taking place Sunday, June 23 through Friday, June 28 at The Chef's Academy in Morrisville, located at 2001 Carrington Mill Blvd.

This week-long workshop will provide 24 educators from across the United States with a forum to learn cutting-edge skills, which can be implemented into the classroom. The workshop will focus on skill development covering both industry skills and teaching pedagogy, with topics including customer service, nutrition, career basics and purchasing, as well as cooking instruction with various food groups. In addition, instructors attending this workshop will have the opportunity to tour Rex Hospital's culinary and dining facilities where the winning student of The Chef's Academy Rex Hospital Nutrition Competition will be helping to prepare his or her original recipe for the entire hospital on Wednesday, June 26.

ProStart brings the industry into the classroom through a curriculum that includes the many facets of the culinary education and careers, and sets a high standard of excellence for students. This summer institute program will allow instructors to acquire hands-on experience and training with industry professionals that they can bring back to share with their students.
