2nd Annual Wounded Marine Fund Celebrity Golf Classic Set for 7/15 at La Costa Resort and Spa

The Wounded Marine Fund provides financial aid in the form of trusts, for those who have lost limbs during combat. The Golf Classic will raised needed funds to help support wounded Marine veterans.

CARLSBAD, CA, June 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) You are invited to say thank you to the Marine heroes who sacrificed so much for their country by participating in the Second Annual Wounded Marine Fund (WMF) Celebrity Golf Classic set for Monday, July 15 at La Costa Resort and Spa's Champions Course beginning at 12:30 pm with a shot-gun start.

The WMF provides financial aid in the form of trusts, for those who have lost limbs during combat , that will earn interest and be available to the beneficiaries throughout their lifetimes or until the funds have been depleted.

"Every American owes an extra debt of gratitude to our wounded soldiers," says Tweed Fox, WMF director. "Our golf tournament is a fun and rewarding way to say 'thank you' to those who have served our country so bravely and help contribute to their ongoing financial well-being."

For this year's tournament the celebrity golfers include: Willie Buchanon, former cornerback for the NFL's Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers; Andre Reed, former wide receiver in the NFL for 16 seasons-- 15 with the Buffalo Bills and one with the Washington Redskins; Pete Shaw, former NFL safety who played eight seasons for the San Diego Chargers and the New York Giants; Leslie O'Neal, former NFL defensive end who played 13 years for the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams, and the Kansas City Chiefs; and, Travis Davis, former NFL safety who played for five years for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The tournament will be a four-man scramble format that includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, range balls, on- course food, gift bag and an awards dinner complete with raffle prizes and an auction. Festivities start at 9 am with a trick shot show, continental breakfast, putting contest and more. Tournament pricing for a threesome with a celebrity (4 players) is $1,300 before 6/15 and $1,400 after 6/15; regular foursome is $1,100 before 6/15 and $1,200 after 6/15; a single golfer is $295 before 6/15 and $325 after 6/15.
