NEW YORK, NY, June 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) Before Indie Game: The Movie, before BioShock2, before Left 4 Dead, before Halo 3, and before Little BIG Planet was even announced, brothers Damon and Anatole Branch begin working together on Organic Panic [www.lastlimb.com].
Both brothers have extensive experience in the console and mobile video game space and their combined resume includes work with EA, HBO, Ford, Take 2 and the MLB as well as independent titles including GBA Thunderbirds and Xbox 360 Wing Commander Arena.
Damon, who initiated the project in 2008, developed many of the game's core elements, including a physics engine that provides players with unprecedented levels of reality and exposes them to the forces of gravity, density, elasticity, inertia and more. In game elements range from solid to gas and include everything in between (even plasma and electricity). All elements are reactionary and interactionary, allowing players to dig through soil, drown enemies in water, and burn down barriers.
Anatole, the older of the two, brought these elements to life through the game's outstanding graphic artistry. Anatole's passion for his craft is evident during each stage of Organic Panic. The audiovisual features of each character are unique, providing a level of polish consistent with the development timeline. The game's vibrant multi-layered level backgrounds and lively comic strip storyboard sequences help players forget the outside world.
It is the combination of the brother's skill sets that brings to life one of the most awe inspiring elements of the game, the beautiful display of flowing liquids, including water, acid, and oil. On top of all of this, Organic Panic also includes dynamic multiplayer and online game play scenarios. The brothers hope players will find these interactions as fun and entertaining as the main story line.
Although not evident in the game play, the development process compares better to a bumpy country road than a smooth highway. Financial demands have at times required freelance projects be taken, forcing Organic Panic onto the back burner. Equipment failures have affected four different machines, and in order to prevent their current console from overheating, the air conditioner in their apartment/office is set to a chilling 65 degrees. And as to be expected, the brothers have argued and butted heads and in ways that only siblings can.
But recently things are looking up; Organic Panic received rave reviews at Indiecade East, was interviewed by GameSkinny at PAX East, and won Game of the Month at the NYC GAMES Forum. Decide for yourself by watching the game's trailer [www.youtu.be/Up8Ql_2PVOg].
The Branch brothers hope to release Organic Panic this fall. Make sure to track their progress by becoming a fan on Facebook [www.fb.com/OrganicPanic1]. Damon and Anatole can be contacted via: info@lastlimb.com
