DAYTON, OH, August 25, 2010 (Press-News.org) A popular Thursday afternoon tweeting session called "Travelers' Night In " (or #TNI) is gaining popularity as a weekly twitter event - so much so that this week it became a Trending Topic on Twitter last week. Every week, #TNI brings travel experts and travel addicts together to share the latest and greatest ideas in the world of travel.
Travelers' Night In is the brainchild of ZipSetGo.com , an interactive online travel community. According to ZipSetGo.com's April Mescher, VP of Sales and Alliances, "Travelers' Night In has seen phenomenal growth since its launch four months ago. "On average each week, 500 people tweet more than 5,000 tweets, representing a total audience of over 700,000 during the 90-minute tweet-up," says Mescher.
For ZipSetGo.com, having #TNI listed as a Trending Topic is huge. "Basically, this means that our hashtag, #TNI, was one of the most discussed topics on Twitter this week" said Andrea O'Carroll, Director, Strategy & Operations. "It means that more people are using the #TNI hashtag more frequently at a steady pace." In light of #TNI's recent growth and recognition, becoming a Trending Topic on Twitter makes sense.
The weekly Tweet-Ups are hosted by the ZipSetGo.com GoGirls every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:00 PM EST. Each week is a new theme, and all adventure-minded tweeters are invited to join in for a fun, spirited exchange on everything travel. The TNI hosts tweet out one question every 10 minutes for the entire 90-minute event. Participants respond with answers, questions, tips, etc., for a lively, dynamic and interactive chat. Topics have included Green Travel, Budget Travel, Best of Hometown and Animal Adventures. Upcoming topics include Water World (8-26-10) and Festivals (9-2-10). A custom tweet grid available at ZipSetGo.com allows guests to "listen in" even if they don't have a twitter account.
