North Carolina Executive Roundtable Hosts Gregg Thompson at March 2014 Meeting

Federal and State Legislature: What It Means for Small Businesses in North Carolina

CARY, NC, February 28, 2014 (Press-News.org) James Chambers, President of the North Carolina Executive Roundtable (NCER), announced that Gregg Thompson, North Carolina State Director, will discuss key factors regarding state and federal legislative developments that affect business owners through his presentation, "Small Business Issues in North Carolina" at the Friday, March 14, 2014 NCER meeting of members at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary at 11:45am. The meeting is open to members and invited guests, and the cost is $30.00.

Gregg Thompson is the North Carolina State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's largest small-business advocacy group. He will discuss current and future state and federal legislative developments that can affect small businesses. Gregg will also highlight the NFIB's programs, communications and services to help small businesses prosper in North Carolina.

Thompson, a native North Carolinian, has a unique blend of expertise in both government and small business. He served in Governor Jim Martin's administration, and was elected at age 27 to the North Carolina House of Representatives where he complete five terms. Subsequently, Thompson served as senior Budget and Policy advisor to the Speaker of the House, and then later as the Director of the Division of Research, Policy and Planning with the North Carolina Department of Labor.

In addition to his vast experience in the federal sector, Thompson is also an entrepreneur. He and his wife, Nancy, own Thompson Group Inc., which operates two small retail businesses. Thompson also grows Christmas trees in his hometown of Spruce Pine. He served as interim Executive Director of the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce, as well as on their Board of Directors for six years.
