PRESTBURY, MACCLESFIELD, ENGLAND, March 6, 2014 (Press-News.org) Alasdair Stewart, Director of Skoda UK, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in his profession.

Mr. Stewart is long-serving automotive professional with 25 years in the industry, with a strength in teambuilding across volume and luxury sectors, in the retail and automotive industries. His duties in his current role of two years are vast: He is focusing on sales, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing the brand in the UK, steering the brand to improve awareness and image and ensuring standards are achieved by retailers. He is also overseeing the massive expansion of Skoda, securing and maintaining capable partners, selling parts, handling profit and loss for the brand, talking to retailers and interacting with the factory in the Czech Republic.

After starting his career with Toyota GB in 1988, Mr. Stewart then joined Rolls-Royce, Bentley Crewe, in 1993. He was promoted to president and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce and Bentley USA in 1998, working in Detroit, Michigan. In 2003, he moved to the VW Group in Wolfsburg, Germany, to develop synergies for the Volkswagen Group's luxury brands of Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini. In 2005, he became the sales and marketing board member for Bugatti SAS, taking responsibility for the sale of the 300 Bugatti Veyrons at a price of $1.2 million each. In 2010, he returned to Bentley Crewe as board member of sales, marketing and after-sales. In March 2012, he moved to Volkswagen Group UK and became director of Skoda UK. In the future, Mr. Stewart plans to remain in the car business and work on different brands in the VW group.

Mr. Stewart attributes his success to having a good degree of energy and drive. He puts a lot of effort into his work, and is able to build up companies and assemble good teams. He has a plan and strategy to drive the results. His career started in advertising, as he was devising promotions and putting together sales techniques. One of his clients was Toyota, and he was asked to work with them. He had always been interested in cars, and he finds the automotive field to be an interesting, exciting and complex industry. He has now worked at all levels and has been fortunate to work in different countries. He has learned U.S., German and UK cultures, he has an international global background.

A graduate of The Open University, Mr. Stewart earned an MBA, and also holds a degree in economic history, with honors, from Warwick University. He is a certified car industry executive. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding. He also maintains affiliations with the Institute of Directors and his local golf club. He has been married to his wife, Nicola, for 23 years, and they have two children- Charlie, age 16, and Emily, age 14.

Skoda UK is a brand of the Volkswagen Group UK, selling cars and parts. Skoda UK reached record sales in 2013, selling more than 66,000 cars. Its record market shares shows growth of 24 percent in the last year. The group sells nearly 500,000 VW Group vehicles in the UK market, with a share of 20 percent.
