AUSTIN, TX, March 07, 2014 (Press-News.org) TentSquare, Inc., the first completely crowdsourced production studio with an integrated social network, will officially launch at the 2014 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music, Film and Interactive Festival Trade Show March 9-12 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. Industry attendees at TentSquare's booth, #1441, will be able to sign-up for a limited time free membership and meet the TentSquare team, including writers, the McManus Brothers (2012 SXSW Official Selection Film, "Funeral Kings") and Jeffrey Reddick ("Final Destination" franchise). TentSquare offers a platform for aspiring filmmakers, such as directors, screenwriters, actors and cinematographers, to compete in the hopes of getting selected to participate in an upcoming film project. Cast and crew will be voted on by fellow TentSquare members and a panel of expert judges.
"I wish something like TentSquare was around when I was starting out in the industry," said Jeffrey Reddick. "I'm thrilled to work with the TentSquare team as we interact with talent, both up and coming or undiscovered, and give them the chance to not only showcase their work, but also become an integral part in making a movie."
TentSquare is a private membership site designed to give its members real decision-making and networking power within the entertainment industry. From development all the way through post-production, members will have the opportunity to play an active role in the filmmaking process weighing in on things like storyline, character development and casting. Additionally members can compete in peer-adjudicated competitions by submitting his or her videos onto the platform where other TentSquare members will then review submissions and vote on the talent ultimately selected for each of Tentsquare's film projects. Plus with the integrated social network, members can track other member's projects, connect with peers, ask industry questions and leverage his or her profile to get work.
TentSquare's first project will launch on March 9, 2014 with members being able to participate in the following four categories:
• Screenplay Development (March 9 - April 9)
• Director Competition (April 9 - June 11)
• Cinematographer Competition (April 9 - June 11)
• Actor Competition (May 20 - July 8)
"TentSquare is fundamentally changing the way movies are made," said Andrew van den Houten, TentSquare, Inc. Founder. "The goal is to democratize the filmmaking process. No creative executive at any studio has ever been willing to give control over to the audience. At TentSquare, members have the power to tell us what they want to see on-screen. Our members will have the opportunity to be a part of film history both behind the camera and in front of it."
SXSW booth attendees are invited to be among the first to access TentSquare and sign-up. Founders and creative team will be on hand to walk members through the platform.
