El Agave Restaurant to Open its Second Location in Del Mar This Spring

The highly anticipated restaurant and tequileria, a landmark of Old Town, is scheduled to open a sister restaurant at Del Mar Plaza

2014-03-09
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 09, 2014 (Press-News.org) El Agave Restaurant and Tequileria is set to open its sister restaurant, El Agave Del Mar, at 1555 Camino Del Mar by mid-March 2014. This second location will feature the menu's same authentic items with a breathtaking rooftop ocean view.

El Agave Del Mar is dedicated to authentic Hispanic Nouvelle cuisine and is the only restaurant of its kind to be located in North County. Owner Juan Carlos Gomez adds, "We are pleased to be bringing a high caliber Mexican restaurant to the stunning area of Del Mar. Additionally, where else can you dine while being surrounded by the area's largest collection of tequila?"

Del Mar locals and visitors alike will be able to enjoy the flavors they love from El Agave Old Town and as well as swig more than 1,000 tequilas. Designed by Mexican architect, Isabel Infante, the Del Mar space is approximately 6,000 square-feet and features blended indoor and outdoor seating enough for 280 guests.

Gomez is confident that El Agave Del Mar will be a success in its new location due to the following and reputation they have established in San Diego since 1996. "Many guests would travel from North County to the Old Town location. It's our turn to come to them," said Gomez.

A variety of mole sauces, seafood and meat assortments, such as filet mignon in tequila with red wine reduction sauce are a few of the menu items that will be prepared daily by Chef Mario Montes.

"El Agave is known for its bold and authentic flavors that make Mexican cuisine so desirable," explained Montes. "I use spices and flavor blends that are unique to regions like Oaxaca, Yucatan, Puebla and Central Mexico, which make dining at El Agave a one-of-a-kind experience, with the added bonus of ocean view dining now in Del Mar."

The new location will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, and will have a special Happy Hour menu and tequila tastings. Regular restaurant hours are scheduled to be: Monday thru Thursday: 11am -10pm and Friday thru Saturday 11am -11pm.
