NEW YORK, NY, April 10, 2014 (Press-News.org) Bonnie Hagen of Bright Energy Services, a full service energy and environmental advisory firm serving North America, was honored for leading the company's green efforts at the 1st annual Women Making an Impact award. Hosted by the Westchester and Fairfield County Business Journal, the ceremony recognized outstanding women who have made an impact both locally and globally in 2013. The event was inspired by keynote speaker, Nancy Armstrong, the producer of the award-winning website and documentary series, MAKERS- Women Who Make America.
As the co- founder and COO of Bright Energy Services, Hagen was recognized for creating an organization that helps commercial, institutional, and industrial properties become more sustainable by reducing their carbon footprints and saving money in the process. Hagen led the effort to analyze more than 10,000,000 square feet of building space and identified and implemented energy efficiency and environmental enhancement projects that reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 4,666 tons of carbon dioxide. Hagen explained at the ceremony that, "this is the same as taking 882 passenger vehicles off the road or saving 3,470 acres of forests." Hagen's actions resulted in tens of millions of dollars in value to her clients, from reduced utility costs and the securing of financial incentives from municipalities, the utilities and other granting agencies.
Armstrong's documentary made its PBS debut in February, and currently AOL has a Makers digital platform showcasing thousands of groundbreaking women.
Peter Arbeeny, President and CEO of Bright Energy Services, was at the ceremony and commented, "With Bonnie's commitment to a sustainable Earth, and therefore, everyone's personal and professional development, I believe Bonnie is a woman who has made one of the greatest impacts on our Earth (globally and locally) in 2013, and will continue to do so in 2014 and beyond.
