PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, November 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) People staying in Prague hotels this winter may like to enjoy a special festive display at one of the city's most famous religious buildings.
From November 27th 2010 to January 3rd 2011, the Bethlehem Chapel is due to host the Glass Christmas exhibition.
Open every day between 09:00 and 18:00 local time, the display will focus on the connection between glass-making techniques and the Czech capital's Christmas celebrations.
Visitors will be able to view work involving glass by local artists Ondrej Vajgl and Valerie Benackova, as well as explore the art of stained glass and painting on glass - a technique that originated in ancient Egypt.
Situated in the heart of Prague's Old Town, the Bethlehem Chapel has an eventful history that reflects the many religious changes that have taken place in the Czech Republic over the centuries.
It was built in 1391 and provided the venue for sermons by Jan Hus, the famous Czech priest, philosopher and religious reformer, during the early 1400s.
The chapel was then occupied by the Jesuits in the 17th century. More recently, it was restored under the Communist regime after large parts of the building had been destroyed.
