One World Spokane Fundraiser During Sustainable September

Help support organic local food and an inclusive community kitchen

SPOKANE, WA, August 27, 2010 (Press-News.org) The 2nd Annual One Night One World Celebration will take place September 10th, 2010, from 5-9 p.m. in support of One World Spokane. The mingling-style dinner will offer three courses of organic local cuisine created by One World's Chef, Andrew Larson, as well as music, light comedy, and a vast silent auction. The event will be held at the Saranac Building downtown on Isabella's rooftop.

The three courses, prepared by One World's Chef Andrew, will include seasonal appetizers such as crostinis with tomato relish, olive tapenade, and fresh hummus. Main course foods will include organic melon skewers sauced with a raspberry coulis, rosemary chicken and summer squash brochettes, citrus scented rice, and grilled summer vegetables. The meal will wrap up with assorted sweets and pastries and local beer and wine will be hosted throughout.

Music will include Hawaiian sounds from Tommy Borges and world music by Sound Travel. The event will be emceed by Board Member and local comic Jim Green. Food has been generously donated by P.E.A.C.H. Farm and a vast silent auction will host items from several local vendors including a vacation spa retreat in Nicaragua, organic cotton t-shirts, local art, and much more.

One World Spokane is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Organic Community Kitchen with a purpose, where you customize your meal by choosing your own portions of creatively crafted food and pricing your plate based on what is fair and respectable. Alternatively you can volunteer in exchange for a meal.

The One World concept is about organic and local food, sustainability, partnerships, building community, reducing waste, and providing our customers with delicious, vibrant cuisine and an exceptional dining experience where everyone "breaks bread" together. Since opening in October 2008, One World has provided over 5,500 complimentary meals and over 6,300 full volunteer meals.
