LateRooms.com - Rome's MAXXI Devotes Wall Space to Pier Luigi Nervi

The man behind several major construction projects in Italy will be celebrated in Rome this winter with an exhibition exploring his work.

2010-12-04
ROME, ITALY, December 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) The work of Pier Luigi Nervi can be seen by guests at 5 star hotels in Rome at the MAXXI gallery in the coming months.

Running from December 15th 2010 to March 20th 2011, the display will take an in-depth look at the work the important construction industry figure carried out during his long career.

Mr Nervi is described as being an engineer, architect, designer, builder, writer and lecturer, with this exhibition aiming to explore his sense of experimentation through a variety of items, some of which have not been publicly displayed before.

The organisers explained that some of the projects he was involved with include the Palazzetto dello Sport at the Flamino, the Stadio Flaminio and the Corso Francia viaduct.

"During his long career, Nervi principally realised large structures and was one of the most remarkable 'vehicles' of an image of Italy around the world that was both scientific and creative," they added.

Among the items on display will be photographs and documents relating to his plans.

Visitors must pay the general admission fee at the MAXXI in order to view the exhibition, with adults able to enter for EUR11 (GBP9.30) and discounts available for various groups such as students, children and people with disabilities.

The complex is closed on Mondays and opens from 11:00 local time every day, shutting at 22:00 on Thursdays and Saturdays and 19:00 every other day.

For more information on this event, visit the MAXXI website or contact the venue on +39 06 3996 7350.
