2010-08-31
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, August 31, 2010 (Press-News.org) Tesselaar Tulip Festival promises to brighten up the day of anyone who visits, thanks to the presence of more than a million colourful spring flowers.

This year's event gets underway on September 16th 2010 and runs until October 13th, giving plenty of chance for guests at some of the accommodation Melbourne CBD has available to make the trip to the Tesselaar Gardens.

Visiting the site will give people the opportunity to discover more about the amazing variety and the rich history of the tulip, a flower that the organisers describe as "the stuff of legend".

However, there is plenty more than this to entice last minute accommodation Melbourne customers to head to the venue, with a number of special events taking place throughout the festival.

For instance, September 18th and 19th will be Turkish Weekend, in honour of the country which held the first ever tulip festival more than 400 years ago.

Alternatively, animal lovers can choose to take their pampered pooches to the Dog's Day Out on September 21st.

Tickets are available now via the festival website, although they can also be purchased on the door between 10:00 and 17:00 local time every day.

Standard passes cost A$18 with concessions priced at A$15, while children under 16 can get in for free provided they are accompanied by an adult.

For more information on this event, visit the Tesselaar Tulip Festival website or contact the organisers on (+61) 3 9737 7722.
