ATLANTA, GA, December 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Maintenance Free Windows, a leading provider of Atlanta replacement windows, reports the last days in December are the final time to become eligible for the 2010 Federal Tax Credit for Consumer Energy Efficiency. The Residential Energy Property Credit (Section 1121) gives homeowners the opportunity to receive a tax credit on recently installed products, such as Atlanta windows and doors, which meet certain requirements for energy efficiency.
The tax credit includes 30% of the cost of qualified energy efficient windows and doors, up to $1,500, not including installation costs. To qualify, the windows or doors must be installed by December 31, 2010, in an existing home and principal residence. Installations in new construction or rental homes are not eligible for the tax credit.
"With only a couple weeks left in 2010, there is still an opportunity for homeowners to take advantage of the tax credit," explains Greg Cassidy, General Manager of Atlanta window replacement company Maintenance Free Windows. "Not only will consumers improve their energy efficiency and lower their power bill over the long term with Atlanta replacement windows, but they also can save money through the tax credit if they install before the end of the year."
The windows or doors must meet certain specifications in order to qualify for the tax credit. Eligible windows or doors must have a U-factor of .30 or less, the U-factor being a measurement of the window's overall energy efficiency. Windows and doors must also have a Solar Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of .30 or less. SHGC measures how effectively the glass blocks heat from the sun from coming through the window or door. These ratings can be found on the NFRC sticker on your Atlanta windows or doors.
Maintenance Free Windows provides Atlanta replacement windows that qualify for the energy efficient tax credit, as well as professional and prompt installation to be sure that consumers have their new windows installed before the deadline for the tax credit. Maintenance Free Windows encourages consumers not to miss out on this opportunity to save potentially hundreds of dollars on a home improvement project.
