The Bel Esprit Showroom Brings International Contemporary Fashion to New York Fashion Week

The Bel Esprit Showroom will debut new members and showcase returning designers at the Ethical Fashion Preview during New York Fashion Week in association with Nolcha.

2010-09-01
PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Bel Esprit is once again partnering with Nolcha to produce the well-received Ethical Fashion Preview at Nolcha Fashion Week, at the Thomson Reuters Building, 195 Broadway, on September 14th. New to the event this year is a collective runway show featuring looks from all the participating designers. The Runway Collective will bring together looks from Canada, United Kingdom, India, Ivory Coast, United States and Poland to show that ethical fashion is innovative, fashion forward and chic.

Bel Esprit members and UK Designers Miksani, House of Tammam and Elena Garcia return to the Ethical Fashion Preview to continue their growing profile in the United States. House of Tammam designer, Lucy Tammam, will show her full collection of bridal, evening and designer wear. Known for her exquisite tailoring and impeccable construction, Lucy's collection references vintage Hollywood eras in style and detail, while adhering to strict organic and fair trade principles.

The Elena Garcia Studio couture collection always surprises with new ideas and themes each season. Whether visiting Africa on safari or the opium dens of the 1920's, Elena never disappoints her growing international following with hand-dyed fabrics and her signature felted silk. Katie Weightman of Miksani brings a new collection of cute, smart dresses and separates for the fashionista on the go. The collection infuses a youthful spirit into pieces fairly made from organic silk and cotton.

Bel Esprit welcomes new designers to the showroom and their Ethical Fashion debut. Canadian designer, Vanessa Wishart, will premier her new collection Rarity Couture by Vicerra. Vanessa breathes new life into reclaimed fabrics and recycled clothing and creates show-stopping fashion forward outfits perfect for the out on the town and club set. Zele, a new collection from Poland, features avant-garde hemp separates and dresses that combine comfort with art-to-wear in warm earth tones. The Vella Mode jewelry collection refashions found glass, recycled metals, and seed beads into striking jewelry pieces that make a stylish environmental statement. Making a big splash this season is the luxury collection Gunas, debuting their line of vegan handbags that rival designer collections from Italy. Made from sustainable and non-animal materials, Gunas handbags, duffels and totes are master-crafted and fairly made in India.

The Bel Esprit Showroom, through its Donate Design project, supports the development of sustainable businesses, particularly in the apparel and textile sector, in developing nations. In addition to supporting the new business microloan and grant program of HEAL Africa, Bel Esprit is proud to present in the showroom talented and creative African designers who are building the African fashion industry. Debuting at the Ethical Fashion Preview is Ivory Coast designer Pacy Kadio-Morokro, showing her contemporary collection Yalerra. Pacy marries traditional African silks and cottons with Western silhouettes to create bright, colorful and chic dresses and separates for day into after 5.

The Ethical Fashion Preview promises an exciting mix of luxury, chic design and contemporary style on September 14th!
