DPR Construction Completes Toy Storage Bins for Annual Toy Drive for Local Children

2010-12-23
SAN DIEGO, CA, December 23, 2010 (Press-News.org) To get ready for the season of giving, DPR Construction recently completed the build-out of several large toy storage bins for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots (Toys for Tots) annual toy collection. For 15 years, DPR Construction has supported the organization, which makes the holiday season a little brighter for deserving children.

DPR assembled eight toy storage bins measuring 4 feet wide, 8 feet tall and 32 feet long at the Toys for Tots' collection and distribution facility at the Marine Corps Reserve Center. After the toys are collected and sorted by age and gender in the bins, they are distributed to children in need throughout San Diego County. The company will also take apart the bins after the New Year.

"We are fortunate that we have the ability to help children in need this holiday season," said Jay Leopold, regional manager of DPR San Diego. "We want to send a message of hope to children that would otherwise go without toys by giving them a gift to make their holidays a little brighter. Our wish is that this year will be its most successful year yet."

DPR Construction has volunteered behind-the-scenes to build the toy storage bins for 12 years and has donated over $140,000 since 1995, which includes donations from sub-contractors, vendors and employees. DPR helps raise money each year for Toys for Tots by selling raffle tickets for an auction where participants can enter for a chance to win a handmade quilt and DPR prizes. Additionally, DPR collects toys from its staff members, sub-contractors and vendors at their San Diego office.
