LateRooms.com - The Way of the Sea Now on Show in Rome

There will be 60 miniature ships on display from around the world at Rome's Vatican Museums.

2010-12-24
ROME, ITALY, December 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rome's Vatican Museums has started using a new exhibition area to showcase The Way of the Sea.

The collection has been available for guests from 5 star hotels in Rome to see at the Heliocoidal Ramp since December 1st 2010, with no end date currently scheduled.

It features 60 different representations of vessels from distinct parts of the world and photos taken by missionaries.

Guests can expect to see ships typical of Japan, England, Africa, Oceania and the Americas in this fascinating exhibition, which was arranged by Piero Castri.

Professor Antonio Paolucci commented on the aim of the show by saying that it represents the civilisation of man and his route to salvation.

He added that it has been produced to "bear witness historically to the attentiveness, curiosity and respect of the Catholic universe for human cultures beyond those of Europe, to symbolise the destiny of the Roman Church".

Admission to the Vatican Museums costs EUR15 (GBP12.75), with travellers urged by the venue to book their passes online before they arrive.

Opening hours are from 09:00 to 18:00 local time, but visitors should note that the ticket office closes at 16:00.

Tourists keen to travel to the complex by Metro should take Line A in the direction of Anagnina and get off at San Giovanni.
