LateRooms.com - Enjoy Beckett Films in Seville

Seville is currently staging an exhibition of Samuel Beckett's lesser known audiovisual work.

2010-12-24
SEVILLE, SPAIN, December 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Beckett Films will be on display at Seville's Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo (CAAC) and is sure to offer fans greater insight into the artist's work.

The exhibition is available to view until March 22nd 2011 and looks at the art of Samuel Beckett and the images, musical motifs and subjects that played a recurring role in his career.

While widely lauded as a writer - he won the Nobel prize for literature in 1969 - he also worked with other media.

According to the organisers, the central pieces in the show will be the screenings of several audiovisual pieces that Beckett created during the latter part of his life.

They explained that he developed a growing mistrust of the written word and began to put more focus on other creative pursuits, which is the area that this exhibition will explore.

"It will confirm the decisive influence of his work on the careers of many contemporary visual artists and provide a framework of new readings and nuances for the entirety of his oeuvre," remarked a spokesperson from the venue.

Attendees from the fine accommodation Seville offers may remember the Buster Keaton movie called Film from 1964, which Beckett made with Alan Schneider.

Admission to the CAAC costs EUR3.01 (GBP2.55), with the building opening from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11:00 to 21:00 local time and 11:00 to 15:00 on Sundays.

For more information on this event, visit the CAAC website or contact the venue on +34 955 03 70 70.
