ENCINTAS, CA, January 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Chrysalis Enterprises defines success when it comes to combining business with a social cause, according to Will Marre, acclaimed leadership speaker and expert and CEO of Realeadership Alliance. Chrysalis' unique hybrid business strategy makes them top on the list of Marre's Giving is Winning companies.
Marre's list of Giving is Winning companies stems from his extensive research, 21 Companies for the 21st Century, being conducted with Clemson University and the University of California San Diego on what successful companies are doing in today's challenging environment that average companies are not. Through data research, executive interviews and in-the-trenches client projects with many of today's thriving companies, Marre hopes to inspire other companies to incorporate giving into their primary business strategy.
According to Marre, Chrysalis Enterprises is synonymous with social responsibility. They approach social responsibility not as an add-on but as the primary mission of their business. They started as a traditional non-profit organization with the intent of providing job training and opportunity to the unemployable. However, they transformed into a hybrid enterprise that now actually employs those they are trying to help by providing maintenance, labor, and temporary staff to businesses and government on contract. The purpose of these business services is to transform homeless into fully employable workers with a relevant work history with new personal and professional skills.
Marre asserts, "By integrating the mission of a non-profit, the discipline of a business and the agility of a start-up, Chrysalis Enterprises has created a stream of new value." Through this unique structure Chrysalis Enterprises has created 220,000 hours of employment, $2.5 million in wages and has employed over 1500 people. "At Chrysalis Enterprises, everyone wins, " states Marre.
