San Joaquin Valley College Improves Student Learning with Xirrus 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays

SJVC Chose Xirrus for Their Technological Superiority, Phenomenal Service, and Economical Advantage Over Other Wi-Fi Vendors

2010-09-02
THOUSAND OAKS, CA, September 02, 2010 (Press-News.org) Xirrus , the leader in high performance Wi-Fi that delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, and user density in the industry, announced today the deployment of Xirrus high performance Wi-Fi Arrays across all nine campuses of the San Joaquin Valley College located throughout southern and Central California. This accredited private junior college provides accelerated career-focused curriculum and instruction often using web applications and online platforms. SJVC deployed Xirrus 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays to support these programs as the unique architecture of the Array allows them to seamlessly support their large user density with fewer devices and cable drops than any other Wi-Fi product on the market.

"We decided to go with a student laptop program that we're rolling out to each campus," said Mike Hamilton, Senior Network Architect at San Joaquin Valley College. "To make this work, we needed the most practical Wi-Fi solution with the fewest cable drops possible. I looked at nearly every Wi-Fi vendor out there before finding Xirrus and the moment I saw the Array in front of me it was so clear that Xirrus had the technological advantage over everyone else. I have been working with wireless since it began, but I've never been satisfied with the equipment offered. When I saw the Xirrus Array, I knew immediately that this is how wireless vendors should have been doing it all along. The way they integrate multiple radios with directional antennas along with the distribution of devices and channels just makes sense."

Mike continued by explaining the benefits of going with Xirrus, "Now that we've deployed Xirrus Arrays, we don't have an issue with user density anymore - Xirrus is the only Wi-Fi vendor that can handle density seamlessly. Everything they do just makes sense to me, from the architecture of the device, to the deployment patterns, and even the economics of it. On top of that they are the only vendor to offer such a high level of customer service. I had someone on my campus asking where our students were going to be and how many users were going to be online to make sure our system was deployed right the first time. Its great to have someone who understands the technology, as well as they do, come in and make sure everything is done right. That's key; I don't think any other vendor does that. Having support like that, from the beginning, takes all the burden off the IT staff. For me, Xirrus wins both in technology and in service. It's just the best company out there for Wi-Fi solutions."
