LateRooms.com - L'histoire de Manon to Be Staged in Milan

Ballet enthusiasts can see a top-drawer performance of L'histoire de Manon in Milan this year.

2011-01-07
MILAN, ITALY, January 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) Milan's prestigious Teatro alla Scala will stage a performance of L'histoire de Manon by Kenneth MacMillan.

The ballet will run from January 27th to February 11th 2011 and star several world-class dancers, making it an attractive prospect for enthusiasts staying at the luxury hotels Milan has available around the time.

L'histoire de Manon tells the story of a young woman who falls prey to world's depravity as a result of her naivety and "dangerously innocent charm", according to the organisers.

"MacMillan's ballet has always attracted the world's leading danseurs and danseuses for the exciting roles it offers in terms of drama, psychology and choreography," they remarked.

He passed away in 1992 after a hugely successful career in the arts industry that included over six years as artistic director at the Royal Ballet and plenty of acclaim for his creative output.

The production is the third full-length piece created by the choreographer and boasts the dancing talents of Sylvie Guillem, Olesia Novikova, Roberto Bolle, Massimo Murru and Thiago Soares, as well as the conducting ability of David Coleman.

It lasts two hours and 40 minutes and costs between EUR10 (GBP8.50) and EUR115 to attend, although the popularity of the production means many of the cheapest seats have been taken.

For more information on this event, visit the Teatro alla Scala website or contact the venue on +39 02 88 79 1.
