LateRooms.com - Feel Good with Hairspray During a Norfolk Visit

Hit musical Hairspray is set to visit Norfolk next month as part of its UK tour.

2011-01-14
NORFOLK, ENGLAND, January 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) Hairspray, one of the most popular musical comedies to hit the West End, will arrive in Norfolk next month.

The Norwich Theatre Royal will be the place to be for fans of the production, with performances due to run at the venue from Tuesday February 1st to Saturday February 12th.

Based on the 1988 film by John Waters, Hairspray tells the story of Baltimore girl Tracy Turnblad, who becomes an overnight celebrity after winning a role on popular teenage dance programme The Corny Collins Show.

The touring production, which will call at Woking's New Victoria Theatre before arriving in Norwich, is sure to be a treat for anyone who enjoyed the cult movie, the 2007 screen version or the original musical.

People booking Norfolk hotels for the occasion will be able to see Micky Dolenz of The Monkees as Wilbur Turnblad and former Brookside star Michael Starke play Edna Turnblad.

According to the organisers, Hairspray is "the musical with everything" and "the ultimate feel-good show".

The opening performance on February 1st is due to begin at 19:30 GMT, with subsequent shows taking place at the same time each evening. There will also be matinee features on selected days at 14:30 GMT.

Tickets are priced between GBP6 and GBP42.50.
