IOS Health Systems to demonstrate industry-leading Medios EHR to Florida Medical Association Physicians as part of New EHR Workshop Series Assisting Florida Physicians in Achieving "Meaningful Use".

2011-01-15
MIAMI, FL, January 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) IOS Health Systems (IOS), a leading innovator of web-based electronic health record (EHR), practice management and services to medical providers announces that the Florida Medical Association (FMA) in partnership with Maxwell IT Company, has selected IOS as a leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) provider as part of a new series of workshops in nine cities to help Florida physicians achieve "Meaningful Use" compliance. These 18 hands-on workshops, which are scheduled from January to April 2011, will guide doctors through the process of choosing, implementing and upgrading an EHR system to meet their practice needs.

The EHR workshops, which are open to physicians, practice administrators and office personnel, will provide:
• Best practices for choosing, implementing and upgrading an EHR system to meet Meaningful Use
• Guidance on meeting the new federal health care law's definition of Meaningful Use to receive incentives up to $64,000 per provider
• Information on the EHR products that consistently receive top ratings from industry analysts, state medical associations and the FMA
• Free EHR selection and implementation planning toolkits for FMA members
• Certified Medical Education (CME) credit

"The FMA's ultimate goal with the workshop series is to help physicians practice medicine," said FMA Director of Medical Economics and Associate General Counsel Linda McMullen, J.D. "Doctors must not only choose the right EHR system, but also incorporate it properly into the routine care process to achieve Meaningful Use. These are hands-on courses that are designed to help them make confident choices and learn best practices, which will maximize their investment and enable them to better care for their patients."

"The objective is always better care," states IOS Health Systems, President and CEO Andrew Carricarte, "The technology has to be physician-oriented and most importantly, supported by a strong service model that collaborates with the physician to enhance their practice long after the transition to EHR has been made."

Headquartered in Miami, Florida IOS is excited to be participating in the FMA's EHR selection workshops to provide Florida physicians industry-leading EHR technology. Medios EHR will enable providers to reduce their medical costs by increasing overall efficiencies, improve collection of clinical data, reduce medical errors, securely communicate with providers and patients, and enable reporting on quality measures. The collaborative efforts of the FMA and IOS will provide Florida physicians the technology, guidance, support and services they require to ultimately achieve meaningful use while enhancing health care quality, safety, and efficiency.

About Medios
Medios EHR is the easiest to use and implement EHR system on the market today, adapting to the way physician's and their practices work. Since Medios EHR is fully web-based it provides immediate and secure access to critical patient information and physician tools that are not normally accessible via paper; such as drug interactions, clinical decision support, patient education, disease and patient population management. Because Medios is integrated to so many different entities, the physician has a more complete patient record at the point of care allowing for the ability to deliver an accurate assessment and diagnosis. In addition, patients are also given physician controlled access to their medical records and the ability to make payments and schedule appointments via the system's Patient Portal. Medios EHR helps streamline the medical billing process through various tools including medical necessity and E&M calculators.

Medios EHR is also fully integrated with Medios PM - Practice Management system, providing practices with the tools to have full control of the revenue cycle by automating the claims process, reducing claim rejections, and providing total management of the practice from check-in to payment. In addition, Medios EHR includes features not commonly offered by other vendors such as 24/7 service, text messaging, voice recognition, easy to use interface, QuickNote features, Real-time Practice Dashboards and over 30 specialty specific versions and settings.

Medios version 4.5, has been inspected by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) and is Preliminary ARRA 2011 certified meeting standards supporting the proposed 2011-2012 Meaningful Use Objectives for Eligible Providers under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Medios 4.5 was certified on November 23rd, 2009.

The Preliminary ARRA certification program, operated by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT ), inspected EHR technology against government criteria proposed prior to the publication of the Final Rule Health Information Technology: Initial Set of Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria for Electronic Health Record Technology on July 28, 2010. The program was designed to demonstrate that a vendor's product would be well prepared to be certified once the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved criteria and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) authorized testing and certification bodies. Preliminary ARRA certification does not qualify a product as "certified EHR technology" for the purpose of meeting the requirements for incentive funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). CCHIT is an ONC Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) and has begun to retest EHRs according to the final criteria approved by the Secretary of HHS.

IOS Health Systems (IOS) is a privately held corporation with company headquarters in Miami, FL. IOS offers innovative healthcare technology software (Preliminary ARRA 2011 certified Medios 4.5, Medios PM, & Medios Enterprise) enhanced with industry leading service that empowers care providers to better manage their medical practice while improving the quality of care for their patients.
