DEERFIELD BEACH, FL, January 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Capstone Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of CHDT Corporation (CHDO.OB) has received notification from the International Home and Housewares Show that the Company's eBook-Lite was selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2011 Housewares Design Awards. Called "The Oscars of home design", the Housewares Design Awards are the premier awards competition focused on the Housewares industry. Winners will be announced at the Housewares Design Awards presentation ceremony and luncheon on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the New York Marriott Marquis.
An independent panel of judges selected the eBook-Lite as a finalist based on superior design, appearance, functionality and originality. The Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business, with educational support from the International Housewares Association and sponsorship by the New York International Gift Fair
The product and Company will be included in the Finalist section on the Housewares Design Award website. For more information, visit http://www.housewaresdesignawards.com.
Last year, Capstone was a finalist in Best in Lighting Home Decor and the Outdoor Lighting categories with its new Pathway Lights Multi-Pose Britebook book light, as well as product placement in the Shows' Go Green booth for the Light Ringers solar 12 LED lamp. Additionally, the Eco-i-Lite was featured in the Designed Defined booth of the previous years' winners for Product Design.
The eBook-Lite includes the following features:
• 3 LEDs provide wide coverage
• Hi/Lo light settings
• Long life LEDs never need replacing and are cool to the touch
• Uses 2 AAA batteries
• Sturdy eGrip fits eReaders snugly
The eBook-Lite is currently sold in the electronics department of a national discount retailer and has just been ordered by a specialty store chain. Sales of eReaders reached approximately 3,000,000 units in 2009 and approximately 6 million units in 2010. The product addresses the lighting issues with eReaders in the dark and allows readers to read in bed, on aircraft or any other dimly lit environment. Most eReaders do not provide a backlit display (the top brands all use "e-ink"), which makes them hard to read in the dark. With the eBook-Lite, eReaders receive a cool and long lasting luminosity from 3 LEDs, preventing eye strain. Other available accessory lights require constant adjustment and re-positioning, as their grip is usually unfit for eReaders. The eGrip on our eBook-Lite allows for a comfortable and sturdy experience.
"We are honored to be chosen as a finalist in the 2011 Housewares Design Awards. With the International Home & Housewares Show just around the corner, we are ramping up our numerous marketing efforts in preparation for the show on March 6-8, 2011. The eBook-Lite is expected to be a popular item at this years show as the eReader accessory category is one of the hottest categories currently at retail," said Reid Goldstein, President of Capstone Industries.
