LateRooms.com - One World Film Festival to Return in Prague

A forthcoming event in Prague will put the spotlight on documentary film-making and human rights.

2011-01-26
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, January 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) The One World Film Festival, a showcase of the latest documentaries with a focus on human rights issues, is set to take place in Prague later this year.

Having established itself as a popular annual fixture on the city's cultural calendar over the last 12 years, the event now attracts more than 100,000 visitors to its screenings.

This year's main festival is due to run in Prague from March 8th to 17th, with associated events taking place in other towns and cities around the Czech Republic later in the month.

Said to be the biggest showcase of human rights film in Europe, One World is put together by People in Need, a non-profit organisation that implements aid and development programmes in crisis-hit regions across the globe.

The festival programme features a range of selected films, which are shown in a bid to highlight problems in various parts of the world.

People staying in Prague hotels can also expect large panel discussions, which are held to discuss the issues explored on the screen.

Human rights experts, academics and the film-makers themselves contribute to the dialogue.

Prague's Lucerna Cinema provides the main focal point for the festival. Tickets for screenings are individually priced.

For more information on this event, visit the One World Film Festival website or contact the organisers on +420 226 200 400.
