Volvo Rents "Building" a New Partnership with Homes for Our Troops

Construction equipment rental company "lifting" spirits for injured service members donating equipment for the construction of new homes

2011-01-28
ASHEVILLE, NC, January 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) The worldwide provider of small-to-medium sized construction equipment, Volvo Rents, has selected the national, non-profit organization Homes for Our Troops as its charitable partner, aiding in the construction of new homes for injured veterans.

With commitments to build 35 homes this year, the equipment provider will be assisting Homes for Our Troops by donating construction equipment to each build location and volunteers to support injured service men and women.

"We are honored to join forces with an organization that gives back to the men and women who have so proudly served our country," said Nick Mavrick, Vice President of Marketing for Volvo Rents. "Volvo Rents has always played an active role in the community and we thought this was a natural fit to offer our services and equipment to local projects and a great way to thank these heroes for their service."

Since 2004, Homes for Our Troops has been building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans, and in the six years since has built or renovated more than 80 homes, which are provided at no charge. The organization supports the severely injured service members and their families by raising donations of money, building materials, and professional labor and coordinates the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

"We would not be able to support so many injured veterans without the fundraising and support from local businesses like Volvo Rents," said John Gonsalves, President and Founder of Homes for Our Troops. "These veterans sacrificed for our country, and I' m proud to come together with Volvo Rents to help restore their freedom and independence through the gift of a specially adapted home."

With homes already in the process of being built nationwide, Volvo Rents will be providing services to projects in various states including Colorado, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Texas, Maryland and Wisconsin.

Mavrick adds that Volvo Rents will also be painting some of the construction equipment red, white and blue in honor of the cause.

Volvo Rents stores rent an expanding line of Volvo compact equipment such as backhoe and skid steer loaders, compact wheel loaders and compact excavators. Volvo Rents stores also carry an extensive inventory of tools including light towers, generators, pumps, saws, lifts and other equipment. The focus is on daily, weekly and monthly rentals to construction, industrial, commercial and homeowner customers.
