NEW YORK, NY, February 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) For anyone familiar with Second World events which combine elements like ethical fashion with tribal body paint to a booming global soundtrack - they know that they are in for a treat.
Sutra Lounge is known for its undeniable vibe, laid back yet sophisticated decor and central East Village location on 1st street and 1st Avenue. Private rooms include a red velvet elliptical room and the Main Room. This lush backdrop sets the tone for a night of decadence through dance and music. It is all slated to kick off a monthly series curated by the Second World Group - with it's Founder appearing as her alter-DJ- ego, Selectress Iriela. Ms. Iriela got her start as a Boston radio personality on 88.9FM Boston and has since had stints as diverse as IRIE FM in Kingston Jamaica as well as at New York venues Nell's and CBGB's.
The Selectress will take you on a musical journey as you step into another world of dub, tribal house and tropical beats. Joining Iriela is New York deep house producer DJ Bradford James. Bradford will get you moving and NUBIA, as she is simply known will be your liaison as you enter this other world educating you on not just the drink specials but pointing you in the direction of understanding this utopia of sorts.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit nonprofit organization by the same name, Second World, the brainchild of Selectress Iriela, born while on a global trek of fair trade activism that took the Selectress from Jamaica to such places as India, Peru, Nepal, Iceland, Egypt, Italy and Singapore since 1998.
