Dakota Dental Donates Services To The Give Kids A Smile Program

Dakota Dental Provides Free Dental Treatments To Low Income Children

2011-02-05
APPLE VALLEY, MN, February 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) Doctors Shelley Wakefield and Bennett Isabella along with their Dakota Dental staff will support the children's dental access program, Give Kids A Smile, on February 4 - 5, 2011.

Dakota Dental's participation in this American Dental Association's Give Kids A Smile program allows children from low-income families to receive the oral health care they need. Along with providing important dental services to those unable to afford it, the Give Kids A Smile program also raises awareness of the hardship that disadvantaged families face in providing needed dental care for their children.

Services that the Dakota Dental team will donate for this charitable outreach program will vary from preventative oral health care, fluoride treatments, cleanings and sealants to restorative services such as fillings.

In response to disturbing statistics, Dr. Shelley Wakefield and Dr. Bennett Isabella share in the commitment of the Minnesota Dental Association to do all they can to make quality dental care available to all children in the state. It's estimated that over 52 million school hours are missed yearly due to dental problems with tooth decay being the most common chronic childhood disease. Along with donating their dental services to the Give Kids A Smile program, they also speak to schools, parenting and church groups and other organizations within the community to promote proper oral health care and wellness.
