BARCELONA, SPAIN, February 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Barcelona Marathon is just around the corner and participants will no doubt be entering the final stages of their training.
With the race scheduled to take place on March 6th 2011, there are only a few more weeks before runners take up their positions on the starting line.
Even if people do not fancy entering the marathon, the event is sure to offer a great day out, as the whole city tends to hit the streets to cheer on the brave competitors.
There will be several waves of runners throughout the morning, but the first one is due to set off at 08:30 local time.
The race will see participants travel around many of the most famous sights in the city, taking over the streets that are normally busy with cars.
Last year saw more than 12,000 people enter the contest and the organisers will be keen to attract a similar number for the 2011 event.
The deadline for race registration is February 20th, with competitors required to pay the entrance fee of EUR70 (GBP59.30).
LateRooms.com offers a wide range of cheap hotels in Barcelona, such as the Hotel Barbara Barcelona, which is very close to where the action takes place on the day of the race.
