Comedian Turned Actor Eddie Griffin is More Raw Than Ever with Return of "Eddie Griffin: You Can Tell 'Em I Said It" Special

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) Audiences and critics nationwide are running and telling about acclaimed comedian and entertainer, Eddie Griffin's uncensored and no holds barred comedy special, "Eddie Griffin: You Can Tell ' I Said It". The standup special, which made its television debut on February 22nd via the Comedy Central network, follows the world of current events, politics and entertainment through the eyes of Eddie Griffin. The special returns by popular demand Friday, March 4 at 1:00 am ET/PT.

Comedian turned actor, Eddie Griffin's comedic journey began in 1990 where Griffin became a regular at the renowned Comedy Store opening for comics such as the late Richard Pryor. His numerous credits include Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam, the Cable Ace Award-nominated HBO special, "One Night Stand" and the HBO special "Voodoo Child". Griffin's film credits include "Double Take", "John Q", "Undercover Brother", "Armageddon", "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo", "Norbit" and "Scary Movie 3" to name a few. Griffin also starred in the hit comedy series, "Malcolm & Eddie" for which he won the NAACP Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series (2000). Griffin's fan base grew larger when he released his comedic standup "Dysfunktional Family" which grossed over $2.2 million in the box office respectively. The film, which Griffin starred, produced and wrote, featured a soundtrack in which Griffin performed alongside Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Dr. Dre. The soundtrack debuted in the Top 100 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

"In my thirty-one years of doing standup, I've seen a lot of specials. This is one of the funniest ones I've ever seen," says comedian and actor George Lopez. "It has the funniest opening line I've ever heard of any special."

"It's my best work to date," proclaims Eddie Griffin. "It's brutally honest, raw and in-your-face kind of comedy."

Recently, Griffin provided his voice for the live-action/animated film "Bunyan and Babe" starring John Goodman ("Monsters, Inc", "Roseanne") and Jeff Foxworthy ("Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader"). In addition, Griffin, alongside Grammy nominated recording artist Akon, partnered up with the team at fantrace.com (www.fantrace.com) to oversee his new developments on digital platforms. "You Can Tell 'Em I Said It" uncensored and extended is available now on DVD via Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. The DVD includes over 40 minutes of unaired material from Griffin and the "Backstage Pass" bonus feature that allows viewers access to an exclusive 28-minute behind-the-scenes tour.
