LateRooms.com - Punta Umbria Race Set for High Attendance

This year's IAAF World Cross Country Championships boasts a high number of competitors, according to the organisers.

2011-03-04
SEVILLE, SPAIN, March 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) Some of the finest distance runners in the world will descend on the town of Punta Umbria near Seville on Sunday March 20th for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

According to the organisers, it looks like there will be more nations participating than there has been for the past six years.

Race day will see four challenges take place: senior and junior competitions for both male and female participants.

For anyone who is around the day before there will be a 'celebrity' run, which will be held in the spirit of fundraising, rather than being an actual contest.

There will be plenty of tricky moments for the runners involved in the Championship event, as the circuit includes climbs and descents, as well as flat sections.

The region's balmy climate and beautiful scenery should provide spectators with an enjoyable day in Punta Umbria, which is located south-west of Seville.

Kicking off proceedings on March 20th will be the female juniors race at 11:30 local time, with the male juniors following at 12:00, the women at 12:45 and the men at 13:40.

Athletics enthusiasts can browse the accommodation in Seville offered by LateRooms.com, with the website recommending options such as the Hotel Don Paco Seville.
