Maintaining high standards as well as ensuring safety and security is top priority for PBE Infrax.PBE distributes television signals and low and medium voltage electricity up to 11kV to 24 Belgium communities - 20 areas in Flanders and 4 in the Walloon region. Distribution network operators PBE had existed for more than 80 years, however in 2010, PBE was integrated into Infrax.
Infrax follows certain industry standards mandatory for distribution network operators, especially when it comes to controlling electrical current and ensuring safety. Electricity must be between certain parameters and the voltage cannot be too high or too low according the EN 50160, a European standard. This requires constant investment and network monitoring at Infrax.
"Investment in our infrastructure is always our top requirement, whether this be installing extra cables or changing transformers. We never forget this," says Manager Peter Vranckx.
Customer connection to the grid and the time in which it takes Infrax to deliver this service is another crucial issue when it comes to maintaining standards, especially if there is a problem along the line.
"People or companies have a connection to the grid and if there is a problem, we have to fix that connection between a certain time frame - it must not take too long. This is one quality control measure," cites Vranckx.
